We like mayonnaise, so it would only make sense to make our own. After a bunch of trying I adjusted the recipes I found on the internet to make delicious, real, and easy mayonnaise!
- 1 fresh organic egg
- 1 teaspoon real mustard
- 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice
- 250 ml oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- A hand-held blender(*)
- A container(*) in which all ingredients fit and that has a wide enough mouth to insert hand-held blender
You want to use a fresh egg to guarantee success, as eggs get older they get more runny and the chance of breaking the yolk is bigger, and we want the yolk to stay intact. I suggest using a neutral oil (like sunflower), because other oils leave a very strong taste.
Add all ingredients one by one to the container, starting with the egg, insert your blender so that it hits the bottom of the container. Turn your blender on and slowly move it upward until all ingredients are combined. And done is your easy mayonnaise!
I often make mayonnaise when I need it, it takes less than 5 minutes! You can keep it in the refrigerator for storage, just make sure you use it up within a couple of days because there is raw egg in the recipe!
If you are looking for a different taste you can add minced garlic or herbs to make it to your liking. We often add minced garlic and eat homemade sweet potato fries with garlic mayonnaise!
